Official Feedback Thread 2012

alrighty, my brain has recovered slightly more, so slightly more feedback / suggestions

- The map on the guidebook app and to a lesser extent, the flyer, could be a bit more user friendly

- There was a lack of clarity with the lining up, particularly if going to the panel rooms first thing. it was made to appear that you had to line up, go into the traders hall, then exit again to go to the panel rooms, while this was obviously not the case. Could be worth keeping an eye on come Brisbane, if the venue has a mingling area between sections that isnt behind the paywall.

! An idea for Brisnova, given the new venue, is to perhaps have some 'helpful hint' type signage. Simple things like above the ATM saying 'additional atms located *insert location*. Or perhaps some 'You Are Here' signs in key spots, with a map.

! Cloak room. I know its been said a million times before, and there are a whole pile of reasons not to do it, but a lot of people do travel, or have impractical props/purchases. Just set a price that covers the cost of providing it, and if people dont like it, they can simply choose not to use it.

+ fun photos spots, in particular, the tardis and avengers figurine box. It would be fun to see this kind of thing repeated and perhaps expanded.

! Cosplay photo booth. This might be a bit of an 'out there' idea, but perhaps have a place people can go to have some professional photos taken in their cosplays, and then made available online? or even with an option for purchase. Or just online, and have a gold coin donation or something like that, and give the money along with the charity auction proceeds.

- The charity auctions in both gold coast and melbourne were rather haphazard. A quick preview of the items, or even a list on screen with reserve prices might make it smoother and more fun, particularly if some ridiculous items are thrown in for amusement (such as a giant cradboard tube signed by 'sexy sexy drew')

! A truely out there idea: A tonight show style evening program. perhaps separately ticketed, you could have a John Robertson monologue, interview with a couple of the guests, middle sketch from the cosplay championship winner (maybe even the winner announcement), and cap it of with a musical performance of some kind. Of course, if you use this idea, dibs on being the announcer ;)

Woah, i really am longwinded and opinionated sometimes! hope this wasn't too TLDR for you all. And remember, you guys do a fine job, we only give feedback because we love you all. Happy Birthday!

There was a group that did this, for relatively cheap.

Then someone stole their lighting kits and a bunch of crap from their stall one Brisnova while they were packing up.
The greatest post in SN forum history.

I believe they were called 'Cosplay Smash!' or some such. I'm still in touch occasionally with the photographer (Kylie). They did a great job relatively cheaply, and got the prints out very quickly. With the advancement in printing technology and miniaturization over the last couple of years, it shouldn't be too difficult to set something like this up, possibly even run by Supanova volunteers with the equipment owned and operated by Supanova. Just throwing an idea out there.

Yeah, that was a really not cool, annoying thing to do (trying to describe this without swearing is hard). I loved the idea behind the photo booth, maybe if people were more trustworthy, we could have it again.

This. One thousand times over. One good thing though, the only comp I watched was on Sunday for about 45 minutes but in that time I was very glad to see "Kill the host" not revived.

Otherwise, brilliant con. My favourite bit was possibly Rainbow showing up late and hung over and still being a highly entertaining guest, seriously bring that guy back. Also the unanimous booing of one direction in the Phelps' panel made me extremely proud to be part of Supanova.

I know some people have been saying lines were un-clear but I didn't really find that to be so, especially compared to previous SN's. To me at least, it was abundantly clear that if you had a wrist band and wanted to get in to the trade hall first thing than you went to the Supa long line in the sun on Saturday (which I did, despite wanting to purchase very little), but if you wanted to attend something else you went to line up for that in the glorious air-conditioning. At previous Supanova's (mostly on Saturday mornings) I have never been quite sure if I can just walk in and line up for a guest/panel/etc. or if I have to line up in the enormous trade-hall line. Admittedly I have never asked about that, but I recall at last years April Brisnova we were lined up down the bottom near where the guests vans pull up and at some point (10am?) everyone was just 'let loose'.

I agree too that there should be a list with photos/descriptions of the auction items posted online or even just on the screen before the start of the auction. I'm sure people who might have bought things would walk out of there before it even begins or somebody might buy something then discover later in the auction an item they like even more and no longer have the money to purchase it.

The only other cons I can think of was the lack of Tamarket and WarSword, which clearly is not something Supanova can control.

Quite alright. I can understand exactly how you feel! If I do ever end up speaking to the volunteer you are speaking of, I'll pass on the apologies. We are all human after all. I can get Supa angry at the worst of times myself! :) Well at least we all hope to see you in the future and make it as good an event for you and all the attendees to enjoy as we could in the future!

We allow dance skits because it's fair game :/ I'm not personally a fan of dance skits but it doesn't hurt to let two twelve year old haruhi cosplayers (who probably just recently got into anime) to do the hare hare yukai on stage. But thank god it wasn't 2007 all over again!

And kill the host is only fun if he takes it to the knee.

Also, with direct regard to your cosplay, I wanted in particular to catch up with you after it was over on sunday and tell you what a good job you'd done on both days, but you'd already gone . I like to give feedback whenever I can, as I feel it's better than 'oh well you didn't win better luck next year'.

Thank you - I'm sorry we had to rush off I didn't book a hotel for the event and it would take me 3 hours to get home each day so we kinda left as soon as we could. And I know it sounds lame but I just like the taking part bit and making people smile from what I'm wearing - I generally rush my outfits so the stitching is never really competions worthy :P But thank you for the feedback - hoping to do something bigger and better for brisnova as I will have more time :D

I keep thinking of some little things, here's something else:

Can we clarify with traders on the floor about people taking photos in the Trade Hall? We were taking a photo that (very clearly) just happened to be in front of a booth and we got roused on by the store owner for taking photos of the products.
