BBC Sherlock cosplaying

Postby sentimentaleducation » Tue Apr 10, 2012 3:52 pm

Hello, being quite new to supanova, I was wondering if there are ever many BBC cosplayers? Because it seems that most people cosplay from anime/manga. Are there any rules saying that you have to dress from a certain fandom?

I doubt it. There's always several Doctors running around, a cyberman or two, I've seen a dalek, and there's always the 501st Star Wars guys, too and various other things. I'm cosplaying a book character. I think its just that anime/manga cosplaying is more traditional, so there's more people around.

It's a pop culture expo, and let me tell you Sherlock is very popular! There are no rules on the fandom you choose (so long as the costume itself is family friendly) I would absolutely love to see a Sherlock cosplay. People dress as tv characters (including as Doctor Who) a lot, I haven't seen any Sherlock in particular before, but lead the pack!

Which 'nova are you going to attend?...Your only concern would be heat, seeing all the characters dress for London weather and we are not so blessed up here in Queensland..

I'd certainly look forward to seeing a BBC Sherlock cosplay! It's always nice to see people willing to dress up as their fav TV, Movie, Comics or Book characters on top of those more into the Anime/Manga and Gaming scene. Most people are very encouraging and supportive too, so go for it and make sure to get a couple of photos!

Yes, anime/manga is popular, but I've seen others of different persuasion- comics, movies, and in particular to the BBC not only Doctor Who but also Merlin. In fact, every other year, I have cosplayed at Supanova, I have always been a movie or a literary character. This is my first year I'm doing an anime one.

So go for it- I think Sherlock's pretty popular but what's just as good is with the popularity of anime/manga, your costume will be noticeable and has a smaller chance of being worn by others- so unlike mine, lol.

Hi, this is not my first Supanove but my first time in Costume. I have decided to go as Sherlock as well.
Should be fun.

Hey everyone.
This was my Sherlock cosplay group at the Gold Coast Supanova and we were very popular. I was Molly.
