As I was driving into Norseman my phone suddenly awoke from its three day slumber ("No Service" across the Nullarbor) and filled up with anxious calls from folks worried about the photos they had taken with a superstar and were unable to collect. I'm now at the hotel in Perth and my emails are similarly laced with anxiety...
Step 1: DON'T PANIC
You will get your photos. They will be mailed to you (How? Details to follow...)
Before I get into the how, a few words about the photo sessions. I've been reading the feedback. Overall, fair enough. As most of you are aware, we try very hard to get this right. This time around, some re-hashed software to print "Please Collect After xxTime" tickets. Worked ok for most of Saturday, until, of course, it didn't. It's always the case that no matter how much testing and thinking about "what could go wrong?" you do, Murphy will always tap you on the shoulder and sneer "Hey, didn't think about this one, did you? GOTCHA!" So for some part of Saturday and all of Sunday we did not have a ticket system. In a quiet desert moment, I think I fixed it for the Perth folks... we'll see... (someone please distract Murphy).
The logistics can be improved. The technology and staffing levels I have now can cope with a higher loading than Saturday. Really. We need to improve the scheduling/timing/ticketing of photo sessions. Daniel and I and others have these discussions. We will make it work.
Ok. How to get those uncollected photos. I have them all. They are not lost.
Over the next week or so (I have to get back to Melbourne). I will create a small web gallery showing cropped versions of the uncollected photos along with a photo number. You will need to identify yourself and then email me the photo number and a mailing address. I will then send you the photo. There may be some "extra steps" required to prevent bad people requesting something which isn't theirs - thinking about that. Full details will be posted here when the gallery is ready.
